We have had the absolute joy of working with some beautiful endangered invertebrates over the years, working with a number of partners including Dorset Wildlife Trust, Freshwater Habitats Trust, Forestry England, New Forest Biodiversity Forum, BIAZA and more. We started Lifeforms Art to help fund these projects.<\/p>

This is a brief introduction<\/p>

Ladybird Spiders<\/strong>\u00a0were once considered extinct in Britain and, when re-discovered they suffered the mis-fortune of dwindling to just 7 known spiders on a single site. We developed a method to translocate spiders to other sites and now can proudly boast over 20 populations. You can read more about the spider and the project here<\/u><\/a><\/p>

\"Male<\/p>

In 2014 we founded a captive population of Glutinous Snails<\/strong>\u00a0to insure against the extinction of the single UK population. We have more snails in our \u2018family\u2019 than have ever been seen in the wild population. Head over here<\/u><\/a> to discover more.<\/p>

Scarlet Malachite Beetles<\/strong>\u00a0are down to just 2 confirmed populations having once been widespread across southern Britain. We investigated their lifecycle, which necessitated building mini-thatched cottages for them, and discovered that their larvae (grubs) need thatch to grow up. We are now experimenting with using our cottages to perform beetle translocations to conserve the species. \"Scarlet<\/p>

The Tadpole Shrimp<\/strong>\u00a0is restricted to 2 small areas of ponds in the UK. We have maintained a captive population (under licence) since 1995 and have provided populations to around 20 institutions. We continue to work to establish this amazing living fossil at other suitable sites although the right conditions are tricky to find.<\/p>
